Clerk Profiles

Senior Clerk Nick Newman

Nick has been a barristers' clerk since 1992. Prior to becoming Senior Clerk at Cloth Fair Chambers, he spent his entire career at QEB Hollis Whiteman Chambers. Within six years he had worked his way from ‘runner’ to First Junior Clerk. He held the position of First Junior for the following six years being an integral part of the clerking team over a period that recorded unprecedented success, year on year. Time outside chambers, life quickly disappears by virtue of spending time with his young family and sitting on the committee of Old Ignatians Football Club (the legs no longer stretch to playing).

Commercial Director Charlotte Bircher

Before joining Cloth Fair Chambers Charlotte worked at the Honourable Society of the Inner Temple firstly as Head of Education & Training and then as Deputy Sub-Treasurer. A keen cook (she was a 1996 UK finalist in BBC’s Masterchef), she is also Chairman of the Friends of RAPt (Rehabilitation for Addicted Prisoners Trust) and organises the charity’s highly competitive annual quiz night (http://www.rapt.org.uk/news.php).

First Junior Clerk Adrian Chapman

Adrian joined Cloth Fair Chambers from QEB Hollis Whiteman where he held the position of First Junior Clerk. He is a keen Chelsea supporter, likes a game of golf and occasionally dons a pair of football boots on a Saturday.

Junior Clerk Ben O'Neill

Trained barista and master of the cappuccino machine, Ben O’Neill studied at Nottingham Trent University, then worked as the manager of a bar before starting work as junior clerk at Cloth Fair Chambers.
